When I googled Emily Briones this website was the first thing to show up. From this website I’m assuming that Emily is a student athlete for Utah State University. Emily is on the gymnastics team at Utah State. She is from San Antonio, Texas. She has one brother and one sister. In 2017 she suffered a season ending injury. Emily takes her schooling very seriously as she was a Whitesides Scholar Athlete for two years as well as graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA. I was able to assume a lot of information and start to see patterns in Emily from the website because there was so much information about her in one place.

Another source I found that backs up that she is on the gymnastic team at USU is her Instagram profile. By looking at her Instagram I can assume that she is on the gymnastic team and that she enjoys being on the team. Rather than the general information that I can gather on the USU website from her Instagram I can assume that she actually enjoys being on the team rather than just doing it for a scholarship. She has made many friends by being on the team and she is happy to be around them and competing. I gathered information from the USU website that she had a season ending injury in 2017, on her Instagram you can see a posts that backs up this information. I am seeing the trend that she had to have surgery because she tore her Achilles tendon and I’m assuming this was her season ending injury. 

Emily is close with her family. I’m assuming this by looking at her Facebook where they are many pictures of her and her sister as well as other family members. Emily’s sister is active on Facebook; I’m making this assumption because most of the pictures of them are pictures that Emily has been tagged in by her sister.

Emily is making a strong comeback this gymnastic season after suffering from a torn Achilles tendon last season. I’m seeing this pattern based on when I googled “Emily Briones Beam” this video came up of Emily’s beam routine at a Boise State meet where she received a score of 9.85. Another source that adds to the pattern of her having a good season this year is this tweet of her beam routine against SUU where she received the score of 9.875.

Overall a pattern that I’m taking away from this assignment is that Emily is a very happy positive well rounded person. You can see these things through her social media and the way that people talk about Emily. One of the final things I’ve gathered to come to this conclusion is this video where Emily talks about a previous gymnastics season and you can see how positive her attitude is. Also in that video her coach shares how Emily is a joy to be around and she lightens the mood wherever she goes. Emily is a talented gymnast who takes her school work seriously and she has an attitude that people enjoy being around.

Reflection on Social Media Case 12: United Breaks Guitars

There has been more than one instant that makes me hesitant to fly with United Airlines. This case study adds another reason to my list. In regards to this being an example of any press is good press I would say it isn’t. If I was the owner of United, I wouldn’t want people to know this story. It is evident by the dramatic price loss in two days that customers don’t like hearing stories like this. Between the incident with David Dao, the incident that happened not very long ago with the puppy being killed, and now this incident with the breaking of guitars I am less than eager to fly with United. I thought Dave Carroll’s approach to getting the word out about his experience with United was very smart considering what his line of work is. He was able to reach a broad audience this way and that made United do something about the situation. Reflection on Social Media Case 5: Paypal Deleted Comments

When is it okay to delete comments on social media? It isn’t okay to delete comments because they are say something negative about your business that you don’t agree with. When a company delete comments from their social media because they are off topic or negative it makes that company look bad. This article gives a run down on when it is okay to delete comments. I like this article because it is pretty cut and dry of when to delete comments and when to leave them up. One of the things that it says is that if the comment is negative but civil leave it up because customers deserve to have their voice be heard. It was interesting to me that with the Paypal incident people were commenting negative comments on a post that had nothing to do with what the content of the post was.
